ABOUT US
Hands Across the Americas was founded in 1996 by Jennifer M. Diamond, Steven S. Diamond, Maria Isabel Rattell and Ronald Rattell, with a mission to empower children and their families to escape poverty through education, access to healthcare and economic development in communities throughout the Americas. Hands Across the Americas is a 501(C3) not -for-profit-non-sectarian organization with no political, religious or social agenda.
For the past 18 years, Hands Across the Americas has provided aid in the United States, Peru, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Bolivia, and Ecuador. To date, the organization has provided medical care to over 50,000 people and donated over $4,000,000 worth of medicine, medical equipment, medical supplies, personal care products, shelter, school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and computers to those in need. Monetary donations have also been made to the following charities within Maryland and the United States.
Hands Across the Americas is made up of over 200 volunteers who share a passion and commitment to helping others who are less fortunate than ourselves. We offer our time, talent, and treasure to assist those people living in extreme poverty and have limited access to medical care. During annual medical missions, our teams of doctors, physician assistants, nurses and other volunteers perform operations, conduct routine medical exams and lab tests, take x-rays, dispense medicine and offer caring attention.
In addition to medical support, Hands Across the Americas sponsors several programs to educate people on how to take preventative measures to improve their health to live productive lives.
