Hands Across the Americas

Who We Are

In 1996, Jennifer & Steven Diamond and Isabel & Ron Rattell founded Hands Across the Americas. Our goal is simply to improve the quality of life and healthcare for people living in poverty within the Americas.

Since 1996 Hands Across the Americas has donated over $2,000,000 worth of medicine, medical equipment, medical supplies and personal hygiene products to hospitals and medical centers throughout the Americas, including Colombia, Honduras, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.

Our current priority is to provide hands-on medical attention to people in need. In 2006, Hands Across the Americas undertook its first medical mission to Colombia. This all-volunteer group of 35 medical professionals and caring individuals traveled to Colombia where medical care was provided to over 3,000 people in Aguablanca, a community near Cali, Colombia. During this mission, we recognized the extreme need in communities such as Aguablanca and realized that our organization can help save the lives of many men, women and children who are not getting proper medical attention. Hands Across the Americas has pledged to continue this medical mission work in Colombia and other countries during the coming years.

In addition to the medical missions, Hands Across the Americas is committed to educating people on how to take preventative measures to improve their health. Through our Healthcare Community Outreach Programs we aim to keep people healthy so that they can live active and productive lives.

We also host fundraising events in the Baltimore area, including an annual Gala, to raise money for the important causes we support. Donations of time, material or money can help to ensure our medical missions, annual gala, and other fundraising initiatives are a success. With your help we can continue our mission of helping underprivileged families in the Americas. Reaching out to help one family at a time truly makes a difference.
